A luxury $9.1 million yacht sank into the waters of theMediterranean SeaTuesday, just days after it had been delivered to its new owner.
The Angiola II was off the coast of Porto Cervo on the popular Italian island of Sardinia with 14 guests on board when it experienced engine failure that sparked a fire, the New York Postreported.
The blaze damaged seals on the vessel, which began to take on water, causing it to tip onto its side.

The guests managed to escape to safety and were rescued by nearby vessels, The Telegraph reported.
Video footage showed the boat on its side.

The unidentified owner — an Italian businessman — was the last one off the ship, the newspaper reported.
The yacht reportedly sank at a depth of around 23 feet between an island called L’Isola dei Cappuccini and Capo Ferro on Sardinia’s exclusiveCosta Smeralda, or Emerald Coast, the news report states.
The boat will be kept under surveillance until a recovery company recovers it from the sea floor.
