An individual is being questioned after driving a vehicle into a temporary security barrier near theWhite Houseon Wednesday morning, according to authorities.

The driver, who has not been publicly identified, struck the barrier just before 6:30 a.m.near Madison and H Streets, Northwest, inWashington, D.C.,a U.S.Secret Service spokesperson said.

Secret Service uniformed police officers immediately apprehended the driver of the vehicle, the spokesperson said.The individual was currently being interviewed.

The spokesperson added that criminal charges were pending, though did not immediately specify what kind.
